Fab or Flop: Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer

Hello Beautiful Ones!

Hello sunshine! Hello happiness! Hello spring vibes! It's becoming that time again to prepare our skin for spring, and oh how happy about that I am. I've been soaking up all the sun I can possibly get in the last few days. Along with boosting my mood the warmer weather also has me trying to wake up my dull winter skin with some moisture. Enter in the new Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer. But is it a fab or a flop?

The concept behind this moisturizer is that you put it on after you have showered, but before you dry off. When I first heard about this I figured that it was similar to the Nivea In-Shower Body Lotions that came out last spring, but the difference is that this one doesn't get rinsed off. You just rub it into your skin and then pat dry with a towel. According to Jergens this will help your skin absorb the moisturizer 2 times faster and therefore cut your getting ready time by half. The moisturizer comes in 3 scents: refreshing coconut oil, calming green tea oil, and nourishing monoi oil. I picked up the green tea one because that's all that was left at the drugstore. :)

So blah, blah, blah... the question is did it work? It did! I did exactly as the directions said and applied the lotion after I had turned off my tap but before I toweled off. I hope your bathroom is warm, because this does require you to stand while wet for a minute or two. It was easy to rub in, then I patted dry with my towel. My skin did feel very moisturized immediately. It does cut a little time in your routine as well because you don't have to wait for the lotion to absorb in before you get dressed. I will say that it has a pretty strong lotion scent initially, so if that bothers you this might not be the one for you.

Overall I rate the Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer as a fab! Spring ready skin here I come! Let me know if you've tried this one. And make sure you enjoy a little sun for me!

Spring Shower Favorites

Hello Beautiful Ones!

Today was rainy and dreary, but not even the clouds can make me forget that spring is here! There are a lot of great shower products at the drugstore and I went on a bit of a spree at Target the other day (that happens every time... oops!). So let's just get into it!

eos Ultra Moisturizing Shave Cream in Jasmine Lavender

And you thought eos only made lip balm?! I've used this one before but only in the pomegranate raspberry scent. Jasmine lavender was new for me and I really like it, the scent is pretty subtle but relaxing. This shave cream is the only one I will spend money on... it just works. eos boasts that it's so moisturizing that you can use it wet or dry. Naturally I had to try it dry, and it does work but your razor is going to get gunky pretty fast so I guess it depends how desperate you are (giggle). And the best part? You can get it for $3.49!

Gillette Venus Swirl Razor

I've seen this one pop up a lot recently on the blogs and I had a coupon (see all my target trips pay off!) so I thought I'd give it a shot. I'm really glad I did! This razor has a little ball that connects the head of the razor with the handle to allow the razor to move with the curves of your legs more easily. I love the movement, the moisture strip and the comfy handle. Win! I got the refillable one which is a little on the pricier side: $12.59.

Nivea In-Shower Smoothing Body Lotion

I've had this one on my shopping list for a while now, but I just finally got around to picking one up. The idea is so interesting to me: you put this lotion on while you are still in the shower! You are supposed to apply it after your regular body wash and then rinse it off. I picked up the smoothing version for dry skin but it also comes in hydrating and nourishing varieties. My conclusion? I liked it... I think. I'm going to have to use this several more times to decide for sure. I did feel like my skin was left feeling pretty moisturized, but I also felt really weird about not applying moisturizer after getting out of the shower. I guess habits are just hard to break? I don't know, but the concept and end product here are both pretty great! This is a good bargain at $5.99.

Jergens Color Primer In-Shower Scrub

If you read this blog at all then you know that I'm pretty much in love with any and all of Jergens' sunless tanning products, so I was pretty pumped to try this one. The idea behind this scrub is that it will exfoliate your skin and prepare it for your sunless tanner so that it will apply more evenly. Let's just ignore the color primer thing for a minute... this is a great scrub! It works well without being too abrasive and smells really nice. I'm not sure that this prepped my skin for my sunless tanner any more than any other scrub would've, but I still liked it.  You can snag it for $8.99.

Well there you have it... now we can all get clean and smooth for spring! Let me know if you've tried any of these.

Spring Ready Skin Tool Kit

Hello Beautiful Ones!

I don't care what the groundhog says, I've officially got spring fever. I insist on opening my windows even if the breeze blowing in makes me shiver. It's the idea that counts right? Along with lifting my spirits, the warm weather also means that it's time to prep my skin for those shorts and flip-flops (Ahhh flip-flops!).

I am constantly plagued by dry skin. It seems like any drastic change in temperature wreaks havoc on my skin. That's why I love any product that will give me lasting moisture.

Let's start with the daily moisturizer that I swear by: Cetaphil DailyAdvance Lotion. I know what you're thinking, "that looks like something I would find in my grandmother's bathroom cabinet right next to her dentures and her tubes of 20 year-old lipstick." Your grandma might use Cetaphil, but I promise that makes her a very smart lady! It's not glamorous like other moisturizers, but it's super affordable and gets the job done. I started using this a few years ago when it was recommended to me by my dermatologist (I have very dry, sensitive, and acne-prone skin). I apply this to my face every morning and night. You could use it on your whole body though! It is not greasy, smelly, or heavy, and it wears great under makeup. Don't knock it before you've tried it!

The beginning of spring means that we all need to get rid of that dry winter skin. Body scrubs are a great way to do that. I am in love with the Body Shop Early-Harvest Raspberry Body Scrub. First of all, this one smells amazing. Seriously, it's like showering with an actual jar of raspberry jam (but in the best way)! It has a jelly like consistency and contains actual raspberry seeds. It does a great job of removing dry skin without being too abrasive. Just be careful about applying to freshly shaved skin (that goes for any scrub, actually).

Now for my lips... I HATE dry lips. I'm that girl with a lip balm strategically placed in every bag (for emergencies!). I'm a big fan of Maybelline's baby lips, but something else has caught my undivided attention lately: Vaseline Lip Therapy Rosy Lips. The only complaint I have here is that you have to dip it out of the tub versus putting it directly on your lips from a tube. First world problems, I know. But the point is, this product is well worth a little bit of hassle. It leaves my lips so hydrated with a little bit of shine and a tiny amount of pink color. I use this during the day, but also at night for luscious lips in the morning.

Finally, a skin product that is a must for the warm weather season: Jergens BB Body Perfecting Skin Cream. I raved about this one last season, but I don't even care. My opinion still stands: this is awesome. I'm pale as a ghost and skin cancer runs in my family, so extended periods of sun exposure or indoor tanning is completely out for me. With that being said, I also try not to blind people with my bare legs. Jergens is the ultimate in drugstore sunless tanning products, in my opinion. The BB Body basically firms your skin, moisturizes, and color corrects. If you're going for serious color you should stick to Jergens natural glow, but the BB Body is subtle yet effective. Perfect for easing into your summer color.

Let me know what your spring skin routine is! BRB going to open every window in my apartment.

Spring Favorites!

Whoa, can you guys believe that spring is officially here?! That's no April Fool's joke (sorry that was cheesy). Spring is one of my absolute favorite times of the year. The grass is starting to turn green again and I've officially packed my winter coat away for another year. Unfortunately we usually don't get to enjoy a whole lot of spring here in Nebraska. We typically get a few nice weeks before heading into the unbearable heat of the summer so I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts! I thought I would go through some of my absolute favorites things in beauty for spring this year!

Nails

I'm going to start out with nail polish. I have my nails painted at all times, and spring always makes me gravitate towards bright cheery colors. Currently I'm loving bubblegum pinks and peaches. The polish that is gracing my nails right now Sinful Colors in Cream Soda ($1.99 at drugstores). I would describe this color as a cross between bubblegum pink and coral. It is looking a little more coral in the picture below, but it depends on how the light is hitting it. Sinful colors is one of my absolute favorite drugstore brands because it's cheap and lasts for a decent amount of time. As you can see in the picture there are only some minor chips on the edges and I've been wearing this polish for almost a week now.

Bonus: I'm also loving Clinique's A Different Nail Enamel for Sensitive Skins in the color Really Rio ($12.50 Clinique.com). It is a gorgeous peach color. My Mom and my younger sister are both rocking this shade right now, and I love it!

Hair

As a naturally curly haired girl I don't like to shampoo my hair every day because the natural oils in my hair make the curls look even better. However, I also don't love greasy roots (am I right ladies?!). So dry shampoo is my best friend! I've been trying some different ones and have just recently found one that I really love: Not Your Mother's Clean Freak Refreshing Dry Shampoo ($4.99 Walmart). First of all, I'm used to dry shampoos having a terrible smell, but this one was surprisingly fresh smelling! Also, when you spray it on you don't get that white powdery residue, which is a nice change of pace. My roots and scalp feel nice and refreshed after I apply it! A definite spring and summer staple for me!

Makeup

I'm going to confess to you all right now: I'm a total sucker for a new eye shadow. I was recently walking through Target the other day and I had to backtrack when I walked past a display for the new Covergirl Bombshell Shineshadow ($6.99 Target). It's a shadow that comes in a small little squeeze tube. I picked it up in the color Gold Goddess which is a gorgeous shimmering gold. Seriously, if you guys like shimmer you are going to love this one. As far as lasting power, I would give it about a 5: by the end of the day I was starting to see the product wear off. I wear it on its own for a little bit of shimmer on my lids, but you could also layer it with other shadows for a more standout color.

Bonus: This isn't a new product, but it is one of my absolute spring staples: Maybelline New York Baby Lips ($2.99 Drugstores). I wear the clear Peppermint balm on a daily basis, it leaves my lips feeling soft and gives them just a hint of subtle shine. Also, this product has a sunscreen of SPF 20 which is perfect for the sunny months. The Baby Lips line also comes in tinted colors, try them out. You won't be disappointed!

There are some of my favorite beauty products for spring this year! Let me know what you're loving or if there is something in the drugstore you have been eyeing. I always love to try new products! Happy Spring!
